AGENDA ITEMS OF CONCERN
148. CALL TO THE PUBLIC - CONCERNS
Chairman Kate Brophy McGee recently published an op-ed signaling she wouldn't come to the table on the proper statutory contruct of election administration duties as outlined by the legislature in their amicus.
Meanwhile, the BOS attorney Kory Langhofer represented in court his client was open to such negotiations. The mixed signals from the BOS are concerning. The voters are tired of the Maricopa County tango. Let the Recorder have primacy over the statutory duties which assign him as the Primary custodian.
Further, testimony in court from long-time Recorder's staff showed that a number of legal citizen voters were disenfranchised from their full ballot in the 2024 election due to an order by the now-fired ex-Recorder. The equipment Recorder Justin Heap has requested a number of times would resolve the disenfranchisement issue. The voters are tired of the BOS being neglectful in the duties of election administration and withholding resources from our duly elected Recorder. Please approve the funding Recorder Heap has requested and demonstrated he has funds already in pocket for.
